Where is Palm oil produced?
- The oil palm tree grows in equatorial regions. It’s a tropical tree with 5-meter-long leaves. The fruits are harvested when the oil palm trees are three to four years old.
- Originally found in West Africa, the oil palm tree is now primarily grown in Indonesia and Malaysia, the world’s two largest producers of palm oil.
- Other countries, besides Indonesia and Malaysia, are increasing their production of palm oil, including South and Central America, Thailand, and Western Africa.
